I found this book a few years ago and wanted to share some of it with you. Just to show that even in death there is some humor. The book is a collection of funny tombstone quotes and famous last words:
Here lies an atheist
All dressed up
And no place to go
THURMONT, MARYLAND,
UNVERIFIED
This is what I expected but not so soon
WILLIAM REESE, WESTERVILLE, NEW YORK
Reader cash thou art
In want of any
Dig 4 feet
And thou wilt find a Penny.
JOHN PENNY, WINBORNE, ENGLAND
I made an ash of myself
JULIAN SKAGGS, SOMEWHERE IN WEST VIRGINIA
Here lies an honest lawyer
That is Strange
COUNSELOR JOHN STRANGE,
LOCATION UNKNOWN
THESE TWO TOMBSTONES ARE FOUND SIDE BY SIDE:
Here I lie snug as a bug in a rug
Here I lie snugger than that other bugger
ANONYMOUS,
LOCATION UNKNOWN
Dorothy Cecil
Unmarried
As yet.
WIMBLEDON,
LONDON, ENGLAND
Here lies the body of
Jonathan Blake
Stepped on the gas pedal
instead of the brake.
JONATHAN BLAKE,
UNIONTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA
The following are mistakes (intentional?.....you be the judge.)
Upon the fifth day of November
Christ's College lost a privy member;
Cupid and Death both their arrows nick,
Cupid shot short, but death did hit the prick;
Women lament and maidens make great moans,
Because the prick is laid beneath the stones.
A MAN WITH THE UNFORTUNATE NAME OF PRICKE,
SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND
He was literally a father to all the
Children of the parish.

Deceased July 20, 1819
in the 9th year of his age
He lived a life of virtue
And died of the cholera morbis
Caused by eating green fruit
In the certain hope of a blessed immortality.
Go reader, and do likewise.

These were just a few from this book. I know it may sound odd...but don't tell me that you didn't find at least one of the above funny......
;-)
Keep smiling!
