WELCOME!
Please make yourself at home! I have a great many interests and enjoy writing about them from time to time. I also write some short fiction and appreciate criticism as well as praise.

The title of this blog comes from my own heritage: I am half Scottish (thistle), a quarter English (rose) with a dash of Irish (shamrock) and German thrown in for good measure. Also, it sounds very much like the name of some obscure pub one often encounters when traveling through the British Isles, so pour youself a pint and enjoy!

The Lure of the Phantom ~ Part Three

Nothing could have prepared Kathy.  She was sitting on the edge of her seat the whole time, waiting for it to begin. Her parents bought her a program that she eagerly looked through.  She was just so, so… nervous? It didn’t make sense, but then, what did those days?   As the musical began, Kathy felt herself propelled into this other world.  The spine-tingling moment when the chandelier lit up!  It was breathtaking, no, more than that, exquisite, wonderful, and beyond anything she could ever have imagined!  During “All I Ask of You”, Kathy felt an almost uncontrollable urge to…do something…….anything…….anything to keep the Phantom’s heart from breaking.  But alas, the chandelier came down and Act One was over.  She sat in silence for the remainder of the show, fighting back the desire to intervene somehow, and when it finally ended, the tears on her cheeks, she felt that a great injustice had been done.  When the performers came to make their final vows, Kathy flat out refused to applaud for anyone, except the Phantom, for whom she gave a standing ovation.

That night was when the dreams began.  Strange and ethereal at first, the dreams were mostly just images from the story of the Phantom.  As soon as one image came into focus, another took its place even before Kathy could grasp it in her minds eye.  The next day, she had only a vague memory of the strange dreams that had haunted her sleep, and could not quite account for the circles under her eyes.
